Swapping Of Race Numbers
August 6th, 2009Dear Harrier’s.
Please note that the club expressly forbids the swapping of race numbers between runners.
The rationale behind this is that any personal & medical information that the original runner may have submitted to the race organisers would not be valid & therefore could result in problems in the event of an emergency i.e inappropriate treatment being given or contact being made with the wrong relatives. Also in essence substituting one runner for another is ‘cheating’ - although in most cases this is not the intention of those involved. It can also lead to problems if the runner is placed in the race.
In light of this could we all please adhere to this ruling & in the future not give numbers to other runners in the event that you are unable to run in a race for any reason. This also applies to team races where we have to declare the teams before the event.
If you would like further information on this matter I believe SAL have posted something on their website.
