June 23rd, 2008Young Harriers from Borders schools were competing on 14th June at the Scottish Schools Track & Field Championships at Grangemouth sponsored by Scottish Power – and the fuel that Demi Yorke and Alice Haining had in their tanks must have been the right kind as they each picked up a silver medal.
Demi was firing on all cylinders in the long jump, claiming an excellent second place with a leap of 4 metres 55 cms. Alice just missed out on a gold by a cat’s whisker in the final of the 1500m, having beaten the eventual winner in the heats by 33/100ths of a second but pipped on the line in the final, with an identical time to the winner of 4 minutes 46.9 seconds.
