Border’s Jog Scotland 5K Challenge
June 23rd, 2008Senior Harriers joined the masses in the JogScotland event at Dryburgh on Wednesday which was a fine affair and so well organised that all the joggers got back in just before the torrential rain started.
Around a picturesque but undulating 5K course, young Harrier Jack Fraser (19.57) stormed in taking third place overall, just beating Tony Lunn into 4th place in 20.04. 6th was Billy McCulloch in 21.11, holding off 7th placed Graham Capper in 21.31. Fiona Shepherd was the first female home for the club, looking fresh at the finish in 14th place in a time of 23.16, with Susan Howel and Anne Purves running well in 28.21 and 30.57 respectively.
Harrier and Jog Earlston leader Caroline McDermott who organised the event along with Scottish Athletics must be congratulated for such slick and thoughtful event management – there can’t be many pre-race toilets as glamorous as those in Dryburgh Abbey Hotel, or as welcome post-race food as Gary Moore’s Hog Roast.!!
