Alloa 1/2 Marathon
March 25th, 2008On Easter Sunday in Alloa, the hoped-for spring sunshine was very much missing as 4 brave Harriers battled against the bitter wind in Clackmannanshire with some nevertheless very respectable times.
First home was Derek Brydon in 1.27.13, just pipping Martin Clarke to the finishing line in 1.27.35. Kate Jenkins kept up her relentless season in 1.27 with Rachel Fagan grabbing 3rd place in the senior womens’ race in 1.30.05, a grand preparation for her upcoming elite marathon race in London in April.
Next weekend promises to be an exciting one for young harriers as the World Cross Country comes to Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park. In a Scottish Athletics’ initiative, Gala Harriers have been selected to support the USA team with Lucy Morris carrying their flag and Charlotte Brown meeting the country’s athletes.
Rachel Fagan Says:
Though third would have been lovely, I was ninth female.
rosi capper Says:
Ooh sorry Rachel - the Alloa website results were wrong then!! Where was Kate Jenkins placed as her name wasn’t even listed? - actually nor was Derek’s altho’ I had his time from Martin. And sorry Derek, I didn’t mention that your time was a stunning 2 mins faster than ever before!! Congratulations!! Rosi
Rachel Fagan Says:
Not a criticism of all your hard work Rosi - just for info. Kate came in just before Derrick and Martin, 1.26ish? Though it has to be said she ran three hours off road the day before and just pitched up for a jog! Bionic woman? Well done to all half marathon runners over the last few weeks.
Derrick Brydon Says:
Thanks Rosi! My name wasn’t originally listed on the website because they gave me the wrong race number at registration! Seeing as my name and time were attributed to a female from Central AC I let them know and they’ve since rectified it anyway!!
rosi capper Says:
Ha! - that’ll take some living down DERRICK! (Must spell your name right in future too!!)
