Team Prizes for Harriers at East District Half Marathon Champs

August 16th, 2007

A healthy band of Gala Harriers made the trip to Haddington last Saturday to compete in the East District Half Marathon Championships.

With light drizzle falling for the majority of the race, conditions for running were excellent. First Harrier home was Martin Clarke in 17th place in a solid time of 1.25:43. Pushing Martin all the way was Magnus Inglis (19th, 1.26:15) and Gregor McAnenny (24th, 1.27:12) who continued his fine season with another personal best. Both Magnus and Gregor will be hoping that these runs stand them in good stead for the upcoming Amsterdam and Moray marathons.

First lady harrier home, and third lady overall was Kate Jenkins in a time of 1.28:51. Karen Haldane finished 42nd overall in a time of 1.31:24, and also scooped the womens veteran prize.

Finishing a little further back in 86th position was Graham Pogson in a time of 1.40:25, followed by Andrea Pogson (112th) in a time of 1.44:39.

The team competition was based on the positions of the first three runners from each running club. After all the calculations, Gala claimed the team prize to round off a successful day.
