Sprint Win for Demi
June 26th, 2007Gala Harriers’ youngster, Demi Yorke won the youths 90m handicap at the Beltane Sports in Peebles on Saturday. While the senior athletes were battling torrential rain and poor visibility at the Eildon hill race, the conditions were much kinder at Hay Lodge park with the sprinters enjoying a tail wind and the occasional glimpse of the sun. Getting a glimpse of Yorke proved to be more difficult as she sped to a heat win in 9.9 secs from her 18 metre start.
The cross tie was a much closer affair where Demi held on from the fast finishing back markers. In her second final in 3 weeks the Harrier defeated the rest of the field by a big margin in an even faster time of 9.84secs. The Gala athlete will no doubt find things much harder in her next event as she will probably have her handicap cut.
