Edinburgh Marathon Report

Gala Harriers had 12 runners competing in the Edinburgh marathon on Sunday 27th May over a new course that took them out along the coast road back to a finish in Musselburgh race course.

 

First Harrier, setting a new PB, was Neil Aitchison, who finished in 59th position in a time of 2.57.57, followed by Kate Jenkins who finished 127th, but was 7th female over the line in a time of 3.06.12.

 

Carole Fortune enjoyed her run and finished 404th with a time of 3.23.58. 4 Harriers, Graham Capper, Alan Goodson, John Cairns and Malky Gowans all finished within 6 minutes of one another after their own personal race in times of 3.27.14, 3.30.01, 3.32.11 and 3.32,27 respectively.

 

Cousins Jason Roberts and John Wright ran together and seemed to smile smiled the whole way round the course to finish in a time of 3.44.22, setting new PB’s whilst Margot Crombie battled a cold and the weather to finish in under 4 hours in a time of 3.59.07.

 

The final 3 Harrier’s all had great runs and looked very comfortable during the 26.2 mile course, setting PB’s yet again. Pauline Ballantyne finished strongly in a time of 4.05.57, Dawn Grant finished in 4.06.07 and Fiona Shepard clocked 4.14.45.

 

On the same day Graeme Murdoch took it a little easier running in the Dumfermline ½ marathon finishing in 32nd out of 477 runners, with a new PB of 1.23.17, and further North Magnus Inglis continued his race a week campaign running in the City of Aberdeen 10K and finished in 74th position from a field of 2695 runners in a time of 38.57.
