May 24th, 2007

Gala Harrier’s had an 8 runner team turn-out at the annual Gypsy Glen Hill race in Peebles organised by Moorfoot Runners on Wednesday 16th May 2007.

Rory Methven battled hard to come home in 4th place in a time of 34.39, pushing the front-runners up and over the summit as he held 2nd place nearing the top of the climb. Tony Lunn ran home in 10th place (38.19), in his first ever hill race, closely followed by Stuart Barrie (38.26). First female Harrier was Rachel Fagan who picked up 2nd place, 15th overall in a time of 40.10, but lost out to Lucy Colqhoun who set a course record in 37.37.

Alastair Wright and Derek Brydon both finished strongly in 16th and 17th place in times of 40.29 and 41.14 respectively. Whilst a shoeless Gregor McAneny finished in 19th place in a time of 41.46 after completing the 1 mile tarmac covered run in carrying his off-road shoes.

Shelagh King brought the 39 strong field home in a time of 59.44, representing the club, with a gutsy run over the hilly course.

I received an email from Romie Scott regarding the Norham 10K shield for fastest femail team which we won last year (see below). Does anyone know the whereabouts of the shield and if so can they get it to Norham club before 30th? I am hoping to be at the Thirlestane 5 mile race on september 23rd and can hand it over then if someone locates it.

    Hi Dawn

Welcome to the 2007 Norham 10K. I attach a copy of this year’s entry form. Please feel free to copy it and pass it on to others.

Could you please arrange to return the Tweed Refrigeration Shield that you won last year as a member of the winning Female Team along with Jane Chalmers and Melanie Goodson. We would appreciate receiving it before 30th September, the date of this year’s race, if at all possible. Perhaps you could pass it to any Norham R.C. member at some preceding event, or arrange to dispatch it to me some other way, which failing please confirm with me that you will bring it to Norham on the morning of 30th September.

Looking forward to seeing you then.

    Romie Scott
