British Schools Cross Country Championship

April 9th, 2007

Galashiels Academy pupil Alice Haining met up with her Scottish Schools team mates in Glasgow to travel to the British Schools cross country event held at St.Claire’s Sportsground in Dublin last week.

Alice was selected for the Scottish team after winning the Scottish title in Irvine last month,
but the 13 year old Gala Harrier found that she was competing against athletes from an older age group. Despite being the youngest member of the whole Scottish team, Haining ran extremely well to finish in 8th position over a course that was mainly flat, in a time of 11mins 38secs.

Alice was 3rd counter for the Scottish team who earned silver medals finishing just 7 points behind a very strong English team.
