Scottish Schools Cross country
March 13th, 2007Athletes from nearly all Borders secondary schools made the long journey through to Irvine on Saturday for the annual cross country championships. Alice Haining representing Gala Academy won the girls under 14 races. Haining got the day off to a great start by leading the way in the U14 girls event, using her strong finish to kick away from the chasing pack. The young Gala Harrier should be selected to run for Scottish Schools in theBritish Schools cross country to be held in Dublin later this month. There were several other Harriers representing their schools and taking part in this event for the first time and the youngsters enjoyed the experience.
