Harriers New Year outings
January 2nd, 2007Four Harriers made the trip to Portobello for the annual Promathon on January 1st.
Always an intriguing race, the weather plays a key role in performance. For New Years day 2007 the weather was kind for the first 2 miles, but rather more harsh on the return.
Tony Lunn was first home for the Harriers, clocking 24.44 over the 4 mile course, followed by Kate Jenkins in 25.09 and Katy Anderson in 26.22.
Struan King, making his competitive comeback in advance of his training return, must have been pleased to get through the race in one piece in a time of 27.59!
With the rain and wind of Portobello a distant memory, Kate and Katy hit the country for the Greenmantle dash on the 2nd, while a much larger group of Harriers ran the annual Gala-Lauder challenge.
Kate, in completely inappropriate yet bizarrely effective attire, finished as 4th placed lady at Broughton in 22.09, with Katy, in more traditional running kit, back in 8th place, in a time of 23.28.
