Club Cross Country Championship challenges Gala Harriers
November 13th, 2006In cold, windy conditions on Saturday afternoon, 30 Harriers and guests battled it out over the Southern Upland Way for the Club Cross Country Championship trophy and the Neil Potts memorial trophy.Coming home in first place and running another fantastic race was Graeme Murdoch, who crossed the line in 39.16, nearly two minutes ahead of second place Ian Fairbairn in 41.14.
John Borthwick finished in 3rd place in 42.00.
Leading lady in her first official club race as a fully-fledged Gala Harrier was Kate Jenkins, in a time of 43.21, closely followed over the line by Rachel Fagan in 2nd place in 43.54. Katy Anderson came through in 3rd place in 45.21.
The Neil Potts memorial trophy went to Ann Wild who ran a strong race to finish 10th lady overall and 1st in the handicap competition. Laura Howie and Rob McCrirrick finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The Harriers would like to thank the Ladhope Inn for the soup and rolls which were provided post-race and to remind all club members that the second race of the Borders Winter Cross Country Series takes place at Dunbar on Sunday at 11.30. hiya harriers, stumbled upon website thought id check up on who won neil’s (neil potts) trophy - saw u were second laura!!! c’mon u have to win it sometime niel wd want that, but the reason im leaving a wee mesage is , is there any chance of a photo of trophy on web site, wd love to show siana + stevie it, realise it might take time but wd be good to see it,
