800m Tweedbank Track Races

On Thursday evening at the Tweedbank track the harriers held their 800 metre track races for all age groups. The races were well supported and some excellent times recorded by both junior and senior athletes. In the P4/5 event the girls race was won by Kerry Sandilands, with Alex Johnston 2nd and Polly Simpson 3rd.

The boy's race was won by an impressive Cameron Gowans in a time of 2.54.52, with Gavin Hamilton 2nd and Keith Young 3rd.

Alice Haining continues to dominate both boys and girls at the harriers and she recorded a very fine time of 2.38.22 to win the P6/7 girls race, with Ashley Hederley 2nd and Stephanie Common 3rd.

Murray Lemon came out top in the P6/7 boys race in a time of 2.50.16, with Fraser Anderson and Josh Loftis taking 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Gillian Inglis ran a very good time of 2.43.67 to win the girls S1/2 race in emphatic style, with Kirsty Pateson and Gillian Sandi taking 2nd and 3rd. In the boys race Ben O'Docherty produced a strong sprint finish to win in a time of 2.37.99, with Gavin Young 2nd and Danny Martin 3rd. Ailsa Docherty, Fraser Docherty and Ian Frater all ran in the senior races and recorded respectable times and places against older opposition.

The ladies senior race was won by Susanne Carson in a time of 2.34.20, with Fiona Dalgleish putting in a great sprint finish to claim 2nd spot in 2.38.49, followed in by the welcome return of Andrea Pogson to a track race, finishing 3rd in 2.42.86.

The men's event had a field of 16 runners in the race and was led by Stuart Gillan from the gun. Stuart took the field round the first lap in 64 seconds but paid for the fast start over the last 200 metres when he was caught by this years track champion Euan Jardine as he romped home to win in a time of 2.11.29.

Ron logan showed a welcome return to form by taking 2nd place in 2.14.26 with Fergus Johnston coming in 3rd in a time of 2.15.61.
