The coastal run is a 14 mile (depending on the tide) race down the coast between Beadnell and Alnmouth. It takes in all terrain from roads, paths, sand dunes and beaches and has on occasions involved the odd swim in the sea.
Ron Logan was keen to try out the race he’d heard so much about and set off at a cracking pace, managing to stick with the leading group for most of the race to eventually finish 22nd in a time of 1.30.10.
Martin Clarke also ran well, despite twisting his knee in a freak accident just before the start, his time of 1.39 was a good effort in the conditions. Robin Murray survived, just! in a time of 1.45 and was again followed home closely by Laura Howie who ran 1.51 and was only pipped by one place for another prize.
Ruth McCann again ran a steady race to finish in 2.10, with Rosi Capper and Anna White coming in together to cross the line in 2.35, before dashing into the sea for a cool down.
